Following the loss of the toss, Middlewich were instructed to bat first with some overcast conditions and a swinging ball. Despite an aggressive start to the proceedings from James Williams and LDT the score was eventually halted at 46-1 with Williams falling to overseas, Dan Power, taking his first of four wickets for the afternoon.
All too familiar for the 2015 season the batting order swiftly collapsed into a heap, keeping the scorers busy with a further loss of 6 wickets for just 31 runs. With an imminent all out score looking likely, all rounders, Stuart Price and Stephen Bliss went about moving the score along towards a competitive total. The lower order pair added a commendable 71 for the 8th wicket before Bliss (28) departed in the 44th. Price went on to secure 51*, sensibly guiding the visitors total to 164 all out.
Unfortunately the rest of the story will remain untold as rain halted proceedings for the remainder of the afternoon, frustrating both sides, although all were able to enjoy watching England secure their opening victory of the Ashes series.
Points were shared at 7 a piece with Middlewich looking forward to hosting Oulton Park in the next round of fixtures.
