Middlewich’s Under 13’s started and ended their cup run on Monday night against a well organized and tightknit Tattenhall.
Foster took up the captaincy from last years Johnson and was asked to field by the Tattenhall captain and chose to opened the bowling with J Irving, whose recent outings for the U15s showed.
From the other end came J Cummings who is already showing clear signs of becoming a class leg spinner taking 2 LBW wickets in his first over and should have had more!
W Brock & H Foster bowled a respectable 4 overs each with Brock taking his first scalp of the season, but it was J Heath who stole the show on his opening appearance taking 3-13 and narrowly missing out on a few more occasions with his looping and consistent bowling.
Tattenhalls innings ended leaving Middlewich a target of 128 to win, which given the freshness of the team was always going to be a tough ask.
H Foster & P Hare opened the batting with Foster showing that his confidence has grown from last year and putting on the highest score of the game.
O Egerton (7) was the next highest scorer with K Yarwood & W Brock both putting on 5 each but again J Heath took centre stage with a very respectable 8 NO with a very mature attitude at the crease, choosing the gaps and encouraging the other batsmen.
Middlewich ended their innings 71/8 with the man of the match going obviously to J Heath.
