Middlewich Under 13s bounced back to winning ways on Monday as they played their first league away match of the season at Mossley following their cup defeat at Tattenhall the week before.
The night started well again with middlewich winning the toss for a third time in a row and electing to bowl as the team seam to favour the chase rather than setting a target.
Opening the bowling was Irving (2 for 2 from 3 overs, 2 maiden overs) who along with Cottam had Mossley 4 wickets down after the first 4 overs.
And it didn’t take C Johnson (2 for 11 from 3), Cummings (2 for 8 from 2) and Oakes (2 for 4 from 1) to finish off the rest of the Mossley attack in just 12 overs leaving Middlewich a target of just 34 to win the game.
Middlewich still trying to find an opening pair who are comfortable batting at the top of the order, tried a new combination of Irving (16) & H Johnson (3) to occupy the 1 & 2 spot and together looked relaxed as they notched up a 19 run partnership.
After a slight wobble when Cottam was unlucky with excellent shot that was caught at gully, the team pulled together with Foster (0 not out) & C Johnson (9 not out) finishing off what was to be an easy win on a difficult pitch but undoubtedly the biggest challenges of the season are still ahead of them.
